Introduction
By learning some of the basic principles of self-defense you can take
control of your life and your safety whether you’re at home, in the
parking lot of the mall, or in the clutches of an attacker.
Part 1 - Awareness
Awareness is crucial
It is very important for women to be aware of their surroundings. To
walk in public without thinking about who is around you can easily lead
to trouble. Criminals behave in a predatory way. They will spend
abnormal amounts of time looking for a victim and checking whether they
can bring off an attack without being caught.
When you are fully alert you can read warning signs and react before the
danger happens.
The questions that you should have in mind are:
• Who is looking at you?
• Has the same person passed you twice?
• Is anyone following you?
• Does anyone look like they are loitering?
Use your intuition in any situation
What is your intuition about your circumstances – is there something
wrong? A woman’s inner perceptions are invaluable for sensing danger.
The sooner a woman pays attention to and acts on her intuition, the
better. Next Page >
